This was our first snowshoeing experience. The snow was about 4-6 feet deep on the trail and was thick on the trees.

Near Mount Hood, this trail goes through old-growth forest and runs along the Salmon River the entire length.

It was raining the entire time we were on this hike. The first quarter mile of the hike is a steep section with switchbacks and a recent storm had caused rock slides down the entire hillside.

Beginning at Wahkeena Falls, this is a loop hike to Multnomah Falls that includes many waterfalls.

We camped for two nights and hiked to the end of Cape Lookout from the campsite. The first part of the hike is through the coastal forest along the ocean and has lots of up and down climbs. The second part is on the actual Cape.

From the top of Saddle Mountain are views of Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson to the east and the Pacific Ocean and the Columbia River to the north and west.

Ecola State Park is along the coast between Cannon Beach and Seaside. The hike starts at the Ecola Point parking lot and goes through the forest and hills next to the ocean.

Elk Creek is in the Tillamook Forest in the Coastal Mountains. The camp sites are all in walk-in tent sites situated at the confluence of Elk Creek and the Wilson River.
