For Christmas Eve, we went shoe-shoeing in the Cascades by Mt. Hood.

Our first snowshoe hike of the year… there wasn’t as much snow as the last time we were here, so we’ll have to come back later in the season.

We went hiking with friends on Thanksgiving… even though it was raining all day, it was a beautiful hike.

Starting at Horsetail Falls, behind Ponytail Falls, over Oneonta Creek to Triple Falls and beyond to the land of elves and fairies.

Starting at Timberline Lodge, which is at 6,000 ft. on Mount Hood, we hiked up to the Silcox Hut at 7,000 ft.

This is a beautiful hike along Falls Creek to a 200 ft. three-tier waterfall. Highlights besides the waterfall include a wooden suspension bridge, mossy rock and ferns, orange & red fall foliage and a very nice forest.

Cape Lookout has become one of our regular camping spots. The weather is the one variable that can never be counted on.

Lost Lake is a natural lake in the Cascades with old growth forest, campgrounds, hiking trails and a killer view of Mount Hood.

This is our first drive down the central and southern coast of Oregon and into the redwoods of northern California.

Instead of staying in the city where the temperatures were in the 90s for the 4th of July, we headed to the coast to spend the day at the beach.
