I recently brought the Itehil Portable Solar Fan along on a camping trip, and it quickly proved itself to be an essential piece of gear for staying cool in hot weather. It’s easy to operate with clearly labeled buttons, offering four fan speeds — low, medium, high, and turbo — so you can dial in just the right airflow for hanging around at camp. My favorite way to use the fan is in my tent on hot nights, making it easier to get good sleep.

The fan head adjusts to three different angles (30°, 60°, and 90°), making it easy to direct airflow exactly where you want it. It also has a variable wind button that creates a more natural breeze effect.

Charging is flexible too — either via the included USB-C cable or the solar panel. While a full solar charge can take around 14 hours in direct sun (and results may vary depending on conditions), USB-C gets it done in about 10 hours. Once charged, the fan can run for up to 10 hours in turbo mode. After running the fan continuously until it ran out of power, I positioned the solar panel to get full sun and the fan started working right away.

It even doubles as a power station thanks to a USB-A port, which is handy for topping off a phone or headlamp. While it does show when the battery is at 10% or less power, it lacks an indicator to show how much power is left before it reaches 10%, which would be nice to know.

At four pounds and a compact size that folds flat, this fan is easy to take along on trips without taking up too much room.
