As someone who has worn eyeglasses since early childhood and struggles with light sensitivity, finding the right sunglasses has always been a challenge. I’ve never had a pair of prescription sunglasses before, instead relying on transition lenses to darken when needed. However, my transition lenses don’t get dark enough in bright light, and they don’t darken at all when I’m driving, even when the sun is in my eyes. That led me to search for a pair of prescription sunglasses that could offer full sun protection while being suitable for outdoor activities.

Obraz currently offers six different styles of sunglasses, with color variations for the frames and lenses. I chose the Teton style with black frames and polarized gray lenses. The wide coverage of this style effectively blocks excess sunlight, reducing glare and eye strain. They are comfortable to wear, with an adjustable cord that allows for a custom fit, ensuring they stay in place without slipping. And unlike traditional sunglasses with arms that can pinch behind the ears, Ombraz’s design eliminates pressure points entirely.

I find that the polarized gray lenses are dark enough to protect my eyes in bright conditions but not so dark that they hinder visibility. Whether driving to the trailhead or hiking on a bright summer day, they have performed well for me. It’s also easy to keep them handy by loosening the cord and wearing them around your neck, ready to be used at any time.

The included neoprene case is lightweight and soft, making it easy to carry in a backpack or pocket. It also comes with a built-in microfiber cloth, ensuring I can clean my lenses wherever I go. To prevent fogging during exertion, I added Ombraz Nose Risers, which help position the sunglasses slightly away from my face.

The only con for me was that it’s a bit finicky to remove the sunglasses – mainly due to having my hair get in the way while pulling on the cord adjusters at the back of my head.

Overall, I’m very happy with the way these sunglasses fit and provide sun protection while I’m out doing all the things.
