Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden

This garden is about 1-1/2 miles from┬ámy home, so it’s nice to go for a long walk and then meander through the garden, especially in the spring when the shrubs are blooming.

Hoyt Arboretum

Washington Park’s Hoyt Arboretum is located in the hills above downtown Portland. With 12 miles of hiking trails, it’s a great place for a nature walk within the city limits.

Silver Falls

The Trail of 10 Falls at Silver Falls State Park has three waterfalls that you can walk behind. We hiked the Canyon Trail and the Rim Trail.

Opal Creek

Opal Creek is about a 2 hour drive from Portland and is one of the last areas of large old growth forest. We were a bit early for hiking here though… the snow cover kept us on the main road.
