Hike to the top of Mount Scott to a working fire lookout. The highest point in the Crater Lake National Park, the summit is at 8,938 feet. The trail starts out crossing a dry meadow before heading up one long switchback that gently ascends the side of the mountain. After several switchbacks through a sparse forested section, reach the south summit area and a saddle that leads to the lookout tower. When we arrived at the trailhead, fire rangers hiked in to the tower to monitor a wildfire to the east.
