Forest Park: Maple-Wildwood loop

I’ve only been to Forest Park a couple of times so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this loop hike. With snow covering most of the trails I usually hike on, I turned to a new book for local hikes: “Portland Urban Hikes“, written by a friend of mine, Eli Boschetto. While the book doesn’t cover every trail in Forest Park, it does include this loop on the Maple and Wildwood trails. With a distance of 8.5 miles and elevation gain of close to 1,000 feet, it made for a good hike on a cold but sunny day.

This is hair ice, which grows on dead wood.
