Cape Kiwanda Hike – Oregon Coast
Part of the Three Capes Scenic Tour on the Oregon Coast, the sandstone formations at Cape Kiwanda have been sculpted over time by the ocean. A steep climb up the dunes lead to views of this unique and constantly changing landscape.
Due to the constantly eroding nature of the sandstone cliffs, safety fences have been erected to protect from the crumbling edges. Several people have died here, so make sure to stay on the safe side and don’t climb over the fencing.
The beach at Cape Kiwanda is also known for a long history of launching traditional fishing vessels known as dory boats. With restaurants and shops in the small town of Pacific City, this is a great place to spend a day exploring the scenery.
