hike: Nesika Lodge
Nesika Lodge is located in the Columbia River Gorge and can only be accessed via a four mile hike up from Multnomah Falls. Built by the Trails Club of Oregon, members can also use a primitive gated road to drive partway to the lodge. For several years, I gave presentations about hiking and backpacking at their annual Backpacking Seminar and stayed in the dorms overnight.
Unfortunately, the Eagle Creek Fire of 2017 burned both of the dorm buildings. The lodge was spared and has been working towards an eventual replacement of the buildings and other infrastructure damaged in the fire.
The hike up from Multnomah Falls is always a treat, but in the winter you could hike down “Ornament Lane” and see holiday decorations in the forest near the lodge.
