We spent three days exploring and hiking the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor. Stretching for twelve miles along the Oregon Coast, the park has some of the most dramatic scenery on the west coast.
Catherine Creek is located east of the Cascade Mountains on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. With open grasslands, ponderosa pine, and oak woodlands, the scenery is quite different from the western side of the Cascades.
A Native American word, Tamanawas means “friendly spirit guide.” It’s not hard to imagine friendly spirits enjoying the breathtaking scenery here. Highlights include the mossy green Cold Spring Creek canyon and 100 ft. tall Tamanawas Falls.
