Snowshoeing to Mirror Lake

Location: Mirror Lake; Mt. Hood National Forest; Cascade Mountains; Oregon
Distance: 3 miles
Elevation Gain: 800 ft.

This was our first snowshoeing experience. The snow was about 4-6 feet deep on the trail and was thick on the trees. Visibility was not good… we couldn’t even see Mount Hood and we were right next to it. The snow would occasionally fall from the trees and sometimes would land right on you, which was very cold. We rented the snowshoes for this hike, but we bought our own so we can go snowshoeing anytime.

That was a lot of fun. Especially when we got to slide down the trail on the way back like we were sledding.
