Solo Camping in My Honda CR-V at Cape Lookout
I’m normally not someone who does solo hiking or camping, but I’ve recently done a bit of both and like it much more than I thought I would.
I chose Cape Lookout for my first solo camping trip since I’m super familiar with the campground, having stayed there almost 20 times over the past 15 years. Some peace of mind comes from having both rangers and park hosts on site. And since I’m camping in my car, I can lock it when I get inside.
Since I was on my own, I had plenty of time for photography and capturing videos of my camping setup. And I made sure to always be at the beach for sunrise and sunset, which tends to be better in the winter on the coast.
I really enjoyed being solo, exploring at will while allowing my head to clear of any stress. I spent most of my time alternating between my campsite and the beach, although I also explored the park’s day use area and nature trail on this trip.
This trip was an incredible experience, so I’m sure to get out and do more solo adventures when I can.
